Erasmus Mundus
Scholarships in Industrial Management

IMIM is a master supported by the European Commission
through the Erasmus Mundus Programme. It is a full-time,
multi-site programme offered by three universities:
Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (Spain), Politecnico
di Milano (Italy) and Royal Institute of Technology
(Sweden).
Aims of the programme
The overall aim of the programme is to provide students
with a primarily scientific or engineering-based
educational background with business skills relevant for
pursuing managerial careers in internationally
orientated manufacturing and service industries. The
need for such skills is growing rapidly as graduates are
increasingly expected to assume broader tasks and
responsibilities than most technical universities have
traditionally prepared them for. The programme is
accredited by the Top Industrial Managers Europe (TIME)
Association: a confederacy of leading technical
universities in Europe.
Scope and structure of the programme
The programme covers a broad range of managerial topics
and gradually deepens the students’ knowledge of these.
Particular emphasis is placed on topics of great
relevance for technical university graduates, such as
operations and supply chain management. Another key
feature of the programme is its integrative teaching
approach aimed at developing the ability of students to
tackle managerial issues in a holistic and
interdisciplinary manner. The fourth semester is
entirely devoted to industryrelated project work in
close collaboration with European companies, forming the
basis for a master thesis to be submitted towards the
end of the semester.
The duration of the programme is four semesters (two
years). Students will spend a semester at each of the
three participating universities, to enrich the
multi-cultural experience and accustom students to work
in different international environments.
