This scholarship aims at encouraging and sponsoring outstandinginternational students and scholars specializing in Chinese languageand culture research to further their studies at Nanjing University.

Details and Duration

1. There are three categories of the scholarship:

Full Scholarship (free tuition, free lodging, free textbooks and free medical care plus RMB 600-1400 yuan living allowance per month)

Free Tuition

Partial Tuition Waiver (5%-50%)

2. Duration of the scholarship: one month to one academic year

3. The scholarship winner pays for his or her international travelexpenses. If there are other contracts, do as the contracts specify.

Qualifications

1. Applicants must be international  students or scholars who arediligently engaged in their studies and have achieved excellence.

2. Full Scholarship and Free Tuition Scholarship applicants can bestudents who have continued their enrollment from the previous semesteror those who have just started their studies at Nanjing University thecurrent semester.

3. Partial Tuition Waiver Scholarship applicants must bestudents who have completed their studies at Nanjing  University formore than one semester (including one semester), have achievedexcellence in their studies, and are continuing their studies atNanjing University (currently only limited to students enrolled inInstitute of International Students). Recommendations from institutionsand organizations having exchange programs with Nanjing University arealso accepted. Applicants for Partial Tuition Waiver Scholarship who have studied atNanjing University before must have received Outstanding Student Award,Diligent Student Award and/or recommended by Nanjing University’svarious long and short term training programs.

Application Procedures

1. Applicants may request “Application Form for NanjingUniversity Scholarship for International Students” directly fromNanjing University Institute for International Students, or fromforeign universities, institutions or organizations having exchangeprograms with Nanjing University. They may also download the form fromNanjing University Institute for International Students web page. Theform must be truthfully filled out in Chinese or English.

2. All applicants must be recommended by two teachers they havehad at Nanjing University or by two teachers with Associate Professorsor higher titles. Application must be accompanied by copies of pastdegree certificate and  schools transcripts. Group applicants areaccepted mainly from universities, institutions and organizationshaving exchange programs with Nanjing University and those recommendedby the long term and short term training programs  at NanjingUniversity.

3. Application forms and accompanying materials are to be sentdirectly to Nanjing University Institute for Foreign Students by June30 (for fall semester) and November 30 (for spring semester).

Approval of the Scholarship

1. After receiving the application, Nanjing UniversityScholarship for International Students Committee will make a decisionwithin 40 days after the deadline. The winners will be notifieddirectly or through their affiliated institutions or organizations.

2. Incomplete applications and applications containing unverifiable information will not be processed.

3. Scholarship winners take “Approval Letter of NanjingUniversity Scholarship for International Students”, “Letter ofAdmission to Nanjing University” and the JW202 form to the ChineseEmbassy in their country to apply for Student Visa (X) or Visitor Visa(F). They are expected to arrive and register at Nanjing University ondays specified in the University catalog.

4. If the scholarship winner cannot come to Nanjing Universityfor that semester or year, the scholarship will be cancelled and willnot be extended.
